The skipper of the Wales football team, Aaron Ramsey, has told Arsenal news that the Wales players should not think too much about the disappointing defeat in the match against Belgium and should look forward to the second World Cup qualifying match against Serbia which is going to be played on 11th of September.

The Wales team was defeated in its opening World Cup qualifying match against Belgium on 7th of September. That match was played at the Cardiff City stadium. The Belgian team won that match by 2-0. The stadium was filled with the Wales supporters who were expecting their team to give them a reason to celebrate. But, they would have been gutted with the result of the match.

Some key players of the Wales team were not able to feature in the match due to injury. Those players include Joe Allen, Neil Taylor and Craig Bellamy. Allen got injured just a few hours before the start of the match. The absence of the key players definitely affected the performance of the Wales team. The defense of Wales looked very weak. The team got even more hampered when James Collins was shown red card in the 25th minute of the match. Vincent Kompany opened the scoring for Belgium in the 40th minute. Eden Hazard set up the goal and Kompany gave the finishing touch with a brilliant header.

The Wales players started well in the second half. Gareth Bale created some chances, but, the Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtios, made some sensational saves and prevented the Wales players from finding the net. Just a few minutes before the end of the match, Belgium’s lead was doubled by Jan Vertonghen who went past the Wales goalkeeper with a terrific shot.

Even after this defeat, the manager of Wales, Chris Coleman, is pretty optimistic about his team’s chances in the further matches. Coleman said that the team has got the capability to perform much better than this. It was just a bad day for the boys. Hopefully, the team would come back strongly in the next match.

We've [Coleman and me] had a chat but it's his decision at the end of the day and I'm sure he will have the team's best interests at heart. I had a text off him [Shawcross] straight afterwards after I done my leg but that was it," said Aaron Ramsey when asked about the prospect of playing alongside Ryan Shawcross.

“It’s important we keep Robin if we seriously want to be title contenders. He has proven this season what his value is to the team with the goals he has scored. It’s important to keep those sort of players at the club. He was our top goalscorer, won the Golden Boot and the Player of the Year awards, so any team would want to keep him. Arsenal are no different. He hasn’t given any of the other lads any indications on what he is going to do. Nothing has been said. But, hopefully, he will stay,” said Aaron Ramsey, who has started most of the matches in the absence of Fabregas.

With the horrors of the broken leg suffered last season Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal fans can look back at a successful year for the 21 year old. At such a young age his achievements have been significant, including becoming captain of his national team and becoming an increasingly important player for his club side.

The Arsenal midfielder has gone from strength to strength this season and improved significantly. There are still questions over his game and many improvements need to be made, but should he and Jack Wilshire be able to avoid injury and form a partnership, the pairing may become one of the most formidable midfield pairings around.

The biggest danger for Ramsey is another poor start for Arsenal, in fact when Arsenal have been on poor form this year, many fans have been quick to point out Ramsey’s poor performances, it seems he may well become a victim of the blame culture which is becoming ever present in the modern game. With Jack Wilshire remaining an option for a return from injury in time to compete in the 2012 Olympics as well, this could see the birth of their partnership and I wouldn’t be too surprised to see them both return to their club with a gold medal and as an established pairing ready to push on from last season. However, sceptics may say that it has been the reason for players like Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri to depart from the club, while Robin van Persie may also follow suit in the summer.

"There's plenty of young talent there and we have to bond even more and gel as a team throughout the years. It'll only make us stronger because you realise what to do on the pitch Hopefully, we'll make it successful for many years. It's important that you have that core, that you've been together for a few years and you understand each other', Ramsey said when asked about the quality of the youngsters at Arsenal.
