Raul Sanllehi insists Aaron Ramsey’s contract decision was thoroughly analysed

Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi has indicated that the club had thoroughly analysed the contract situation of Aaron Ramsey before coming to their decision. The Wales international saw an offer rescinded from the hierarchy earlier in the season and reports have since suggested that the midfielder will leave on a Bosman when the campaign comes to a close.

Speaking to reporters, Sanllehi was recently asked the future of Ramsey with the Gunners and though, he did not mention the midfielder’s name, he gave a clear idea on the club’s stance on the contract discussions, he said: “I would like to avoid talking about personal players. It is more of a gathering of strategies and what our ideas are. What I can assure you is that any decision we take at the club of any kind, whether it concerns players or any other thing, it is very thoroughly thought through, analysed and discussed by different people.”

Ramsey is currently the longest-serving player for the Gunners after having spent over a decade with the north London giants, and during this period, he has come up with several admirable moments including the FA Cup winning goals in 2014 and 2017 – the former of which ended the club’s nine-year wait for some form of silverware.

Because of this, “he has become a player, who has become fond with a vast section of the club’s faithful but that has had no influence on the board’s decision on his future. “ At present, Ramsey has just eight months remaining on his existing deal “with the Capital outfit “ and he would be free to discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club at the turn of the year.

There have also been reports suggesting that Ramsey could make way for a bargain price in January but the Welshman has previously indicated that he is determined to see out the rest of the season with the Gunners.
