RAMSEY SUBBED OFF DURING LOSS

Welshman Aaron Ramsey was substituted towards the end of the second half of the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff clash between OGC Nice and Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv. Aaron Ramsey is one of the new players at Nice following his transfer to the club this summer. Ramsey had a year left on his contract at Italian Serie A giants Juventus before it was terminated thus paving the way for him to sign for French top flight side Nice as a free agent during this summer’s transfer window.

Ramsey and his Nice teammates were in Tel Aviv on Thursday night to take on local club Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first leg of their Europa Conference League playoff clash. In the end, Aaron Ramsey could not save Nice from a defeat. To this effect, they have it all to do in the second leg in a week’s time as they have to turn it around to secure a place in the group stage of the competition.

Maccabi Tel Aviv are in a good position after the slim win over Nice. Former Croatian youth international Stipe Perica came off the bench to score the winning goal for Maccabi Tel Aviv on the way to a 1-0 win over Nice. Perica started the game on the bench before he was introduced into the game on 69 minutes. He came on for Israeli national team star EranZahaviand it took him just five minutes to make his mark and get the only goal of the game. On his part, Aaron Ramsey left the game with three minutes left. Frenchman Alexis BekaBeka came on for Ramsey for the final three minutes of the game.
Nice have drawn their two league games this season and the defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv is their first of the season.
