Lauren urges Arsenal to find a replacement for Aaron Ramsey

Former Arsenal star Lauren has said that Aaron Ramsey was a more influential player for the Gunners than Mesut Ozil and the club should seek to find a replacement for the Wales international. The midfielder had been keen on extending his contract with the north London giants last term, but to the surprise of many fans, the board decided to run down the final year of his deal.

In a report covered by The Star, Lauren said that the departure of Ramsey can be termed as a big loss, given he had the best impact among the attackers at the north London club. He added that the team need to make a big signing in order to cover up the void left by the former Cardiff City graduate.

He said: “Losing Aaron Ramsey to Juventus is a big loss for Arsenal. Unai and his backroom team will need to use this transfer window to make a big signing to replace him. Throughout his time at the club, and even when he had announced he was leaving the club, Ramsey was a brilliant player who always played to his best ability. The gap he has left in the club will be felt unless the club bring in someone to replace him quickly.”

Ramsey has a contract with the Gunners until the end of the month and thereafter, he is expected to link up with Juventus. The move can be termed as the perfect challenge for the Welshman at the prime phase of his career but it will be interesting to see whether he can remain unscathed – something which has barely been the case during his time at Arsenal.

The midfielder has been gifted with the quality of contributing goals from the midfield role but in between that, he has suffered from calf concerns which have kept him out for certain periods through a campaign.
