Watford striker Troy Deeney says that Aaron Ramsey’s lack of decisiveness in defending a free kick helped the Watford claim a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates stadium.
It was a completely disappointing first half for Arsenal, butDeeney claims that Ramsey failing to hold his ground while defending a free kick proved to be the decisive element in the game. He says that the early goal gave Watford a lot of confidence, which was only increased after the second goal. Even though Arsenal put up a fight back in the second half, it was not enough to get anything out of the match. Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the gunners in the 58th minute.
Even though they huffed and puffed, the clubwere unable to get anything out of the match. The loss could not have come at a worse time for the gunners, as they head into a crucial game against Chelsea during the weekend.
"I think he bottled it a little bit; Ramsey’s mistake was our blessing. I have come up with Sean Dyche and Malky Mackay and if we had turned our back on the ball like that, they would have had strong words with us,” said Deeney. A number of pundits and fans have questioned manager Arsene Wenger’s position at the club following this latest defeat, which has left the team nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
