Ryan Giggs Urges Aaron Ramsey To Sort Out His Arsenal Future

Wales head coach Ryan Giggs has urged Aaron Ramsey to sort out his future with Arsenal at the earliest possibility. The 27-year-old has just 15 months left on his existing contract with the Gunners, and talks over an extension are yet to progress with the club presently focused on the future of Jack Wilshere.

Ramsey was not picked by Wales for the friendlies against China and Uruguay due to a minor injury, and during a news conference, Giggs advised the midfielder to stay put with the Gunners, he said: “I hope Aaron sorts it out sooner rather than later. Any player having talks with contracts you want it sorted out as quickly as possible.

“He’s at a good club. From a personal point of view when you’re at a club you’re used to it can help you. You know all the staff and the players. I was always happy; there was always a challenge at United so I never saw any reason to leave. I was happy playing my football. I never got bored or felt the need to go anywhere else.”

Ramsey has struggled with injuries over the course of his Gunners career, but he has managed to make an influential impact in every season, nevertheless. His most crucial contributions have come in the form of winning goals against Hull City and Chelsea in the 2014 and 2017 editions of the FA Cup, but aside from this, he has the ability to make nagging runs into the box, which often go unspotted by the opposition defence.

Right now, Arsenal’s main interests are on committing Wilshere to a new contract, considering his deal expires in less than two months’ time. The England international has already turned down a 25 per cent reduction on his current £110,000-a-week salary, and negotiations may prolong until the end of the season with contract chief Huss Fahmy reluctant to increase the offer.

ESPN Pundit Discusses Aaron Ramsey And Eden Hazard Transfer Links

Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop does not believe Aaron Ramsey would land up at Chelsea during the summer transfer window. The Wales international has just 15 months left on his existing deal and this has intensified speculation of him joining the Blues, who are said to be one of admirers.

Speaking on ESPN FC show, Hislop dismissed the prospect of Ramsey making the switch to Stamford Bridge, given the Welshman does not quite fit with the Blues’ style of play, he said: “I’m putting this down as a miss. I’m not sure how Aaron Ramsey fits in at this Chelsea.” Meanwhile, the 49-year-old went further to discuss Eden Hazard’s future with the Blues, and believes there is more of a chance of the Belgium captain leaving for Real Madrid, he added: “He’s looked more and more frustrated as this season has gone on in particular. I think he needs greener pastures. I think he leaves, probably ends up, I’d like to see him end up, in Madrid.”

Ramsey has been with the Gunners for nearly a decade and during this period, he has been a credible contributor with valuable goals including key winners in the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup finals. The Welshman recently hinted that talks are yet to progress with the club more concerned over Jack Wilshere’s situation, but the club are likely to start off talks in the coming weeks to avoid another Alexis Sanchez situation.

On the contrary, Hazard has more than two years left on his current deal with the Blues, and this probably leaves the club in a comfortable situation to deal with any summer interest. To make things more secure, the attacker has himself clarified that he is not looking into a switch to either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain, and he would like to leave west London on his own terms.
