RAMSEY SIGNS UP

Arsenal have been boosted by the news that midfielder Aaron Ramsey has decided to extend his stay at the club by signing a new contract. The length of the contract has not been revealed, but Ramsey will be a Gooner for a long while now. The former Cardiff City player has not been at his best in the last few years – especially since suffering the fractured leg while playing against Stoke City. However, the first half of the season saw the best of the Welshman, as he dominated Arsenal’s midfield with numerous goals.

He ended up the first half of the campaign with 13 goals, but was injured just after Christmas. He is expected to be back in the first-team for the next match. He was originally expected for the 1-0 win over Tottenham, but Arsene Wenger confirmed that he had suffered a setback in his rehabilitation. Despite the injury, Ramsey is expected to play a key role in Arsenal’s future and the club had no hesitation in offering him a new deal. Arsenal have announced that this new contract along with the news that Santi Cazorla and young star Gedion Zelalem have also signed a new deals.

Ramsey said to Arsenal’s official site that he had no second thoughts about committing to the club.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new contract. I've been here for six years and I'm so happy. I think we've shown so far this season what we're all about and the direction that this club wants to go in. I want to be a part of that, and to be a part of something special at Arsenal. We have a great team which we believe can achieve great things," said Ramsey.

Wenger said that he is delighted to keep a player like Ramsey, who was signed for just £ 5 million.
